Marketing and internal change: A case study based approach to strategic and operational development of your information service: Elisabeth Goodman & Shaida Dorabjee

Venue: CILIP, 7 Ridgmount Street, London, WC1E 7AE

Date: Tuesday, 10 September, 2013 - 09:30 - 16:30

Course Outline:
Whether you, your department, or your overall organisation is introducing large-scale strategic change, or is looking to make more operational improvements, the chances are that you need to develop new e-services or e-products, new ways of working, and communicating new information and knowledge to your customers.

Marketing yourself, your products and your services, and leading and managing internal change, are not luxuries: they are a necessity for any professional looking to successfully position themselves and their business in today's economic climate. Understanding where you and your stakeholders are in the change process, and proactively promoting new products and services are essential skills for any information professional concerned with the effective delivery of e-information.

There are many well-tested techniques to help you enhance your skills for successful strategic and operational development. Through a series of case studies, including those provided by delegates in advance, this course will use the key components of marketing and change management to work through these specific scenarios in a participative and practical day.

Who should attend:
Information professionals in middle and senior management positions in public and private sector organisations who wish to advance the effective exploitation and management of electronic information. It will enable them to:

Identify opportunities where improvements in information services need to be well managed and delivered
Experiment with a range of marketing and change management techniques
Apply these techniques to specific scenarios highlighted in case studies
Develop draft marketing and/or change management plans for a proactive approach to their challenges

The session will include:

Strategic and operational drivers for marketing and internal change
How to identify your stakeholders and understand their requirements and reactions to change
Developing and promoting your products and services and implementing internal change
