We are seeking to recruit a Metadata Specialist for a 4-5 month contract
(starting early August).

Contract Specification
This Principal Consultant level position will support the investigation and
specification of a strategic metadata management solution for our client.
The solution must enable our client to create, hold, manage and publish
their metadata (internally and externally) in an efficient and effective
manner.
Tasks would include:
* review of existing metadata landscape
* metadata requirements capture with internal stakeholders
* external engagement (to ascertain what solutions are currently in use by
other large organisations)
* an assessment of COTS and Open Source metadata software solutions
* options analysis
* specification development
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate must be suitably experienced with a strong background in
metadata alongside demonstrable experience in the development of system
requirements. Specific experience / understanding of the following are
required:
* metadata standards, including Gemini 2.2, ISO 19115/19139, MEDIN, etc
* metadata tools and systems
* business process improvement
The candidate must have a keen eye for detail and:
* have experience of working for, or with, central government bodies
* be self motivated, able to work independently and organised
* be an effective communicator
* able to produce high quality, accurate and error-free work
* able to readily share knowledge and skills with others.
Knowledge of the INSPIRE Directive, GEMET/IPSV/relevant thesauri, wider
government metadata and open data/transparency obligations and drivers and
previous experience of working on projects for the public sector are
desirable.
The candidate would ideally be based in either Bristol or London but
location is flexible.
