Software Project Manager - South East - Permanent - £40k-£50k + Benefits
We are seeking a Project manager with experience of Software Engineering and or Development Projects in the Defence and Government. The role involves managing challenging and often complex Geospatial Intelligence products and systems developments for clients. Specific experience in GIS or data management systems, including development, deployment and operation in the field, will be an advantage.
EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
A good degree in an engineering, computing or science subject, plus industrial experience working in an engineering project environment.
A thorough understanding of Engineering Project lifecycles and the pitfalls thereof.
A track record in the management of software projects in Defence or Government environments.
A sound commercial understanding.
Proven ability in the sales process, including technical and commercial proposal writing.
Other attributes:
• Project management experience should be underpinned by relevant technical expertise;
• A relevant Project Management qualification such as APMP or PRINCE2 is desirable but not required;
• A self starting individual who takes responsibility for the delivery of complete solutions;
• Experience in managing both the development team and wider stakeholder communities;
• Experience in managing projects through lifecycle;
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
DUTIES:
The successful candidate will be required to:
• Create and execute project work plans and revise these as appropriate through the
life of the project.
• Identify the resources needed and assign individual responsibilities.
• Manage day3to3day operational aspects of a project.
• Reviews deliverables prepared by team before passing to client.
• Manages project budget.
• Effectively apply company methodology and enforce project standards.
• Prepares for reviews and quality assurance procedures.
• Minimizes our exposure and risk on project.
• Ensures project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately.
• Tracks and reports team hours and expenses on a weekly basis.
• Follows up with clients, when necessary, regarding unpaid invoices.
• Keeps management informed of progress and issues.
Please note for this role its important that you must also be eligible to gain SC Security Clearance.
