HSBC Holdings plc, London: Project Archivist (1 year)
Responsibilities:
HSBC will be marking its 150th anniversary in 2015 and the Archives department is heavily involved in a number of significant projects building up to the occasion. These include the writing and publication of a new history book; organising an exhibition in partnership with a Hong Kong museum; producing films, brochures and other supporting materials for client dinners, employee engagement events etc.
This is an exciting opportunity to support the delivery of these projects. Key activities will include the detailed cataloguing of priority record series and the identification of relevant material for digitization. The main focus for this work will be photographic and audio visual collections. It will also be necessary to carry out detailed research on key archival sources in order to verify additional historical information for use in projects.
The jobholder will also provide general assistance with professional archival duties to support the department during this busy period. This will involve answering historical enquiries; supervision of researchers; tackling preservation tasks; curating displays and helping to host visits at the Archives centre.
Requirements:
The jobholder must have a first degree and a post-graduate qualification in Archives Management (or a related discipline such as Information Management/Library Studies - with specialism in Archives).
The jobholder will possess at least 1 years’ experience; preferably with some time spent in a corporate Archive. Prior experience in using Calm cataloguing software will also be an advantage.
Must be able to demonstrate excellent communication; customer service; research and time management skills.

• Based at HSBC’s London Archive Centre, Canning Town, E14
• Salary range between £30,000-34,000 per annum, dependent on experience
• 35 hours per week
• 12 month temporary contract via an external agency with possibility for extension
• Starting as soon as possible
