Post: Searchroom Archivist (Maternity Cover – 12 months)
Location: West Sussex Record Office, Chichester
Employer: West Sussex County Council
Salary: WSCC Grade 7 £20,198-£22,221
Temporary contract: 37 hours per week
Thursday evening working (1 week in 5 until 7.30pm) and all-day Saturday (1 week in 6).
The successful candidate will join the Public Access Team in the County Record Office in Chichester. The duties will include helping to supervise a busy public searchroom, dealing with enquiries and assisting with the research service, accessioning and cataloguing archives, and contributing to outreach activities.
The chosen candidate will have a first degree in history or related subject, a postgraduate qualification in archival administration and experience of working in a Record Office environment.
Advanced communication and interpersonal skills plus sound and accurate IT skills, including a good working knowledge of the CALM electronic system, are among the requirements for the post.
The post has been created to cover maternity leave until 29 September 2014.
