Dear colleagues,
A student of mine has found a few pieces that I cannot identify. Maybe some of you can help by checking the images in:
http://zooarchaeology.ning.com/photo/albums/not-scaphopods-what-are-they
The pieces seem to be shell like, circa 5cm long, with a triangular section. I discarded scaphopods, since the specimens that we have are not conical or open at both ends (one of the ends is pointy and closed). They were found in two contexts of southern Portugal, dated from the 2nd Iron Age. Both seem to be "fish processing sites" with lots of fish and shellfish remains.
Thank you all in advance for any suggestion / identification.
