Hi,
This is not something meant as a contingency plan for the current problem with the Stratum-1 service at RAL, but it is a good opportunity to announce non-LHC VOs which are making use of CVMFS (mice, na62 and hone) that CERN is mirroring their repositories, therefore could sysadmins at sites supporting these VOs make the following changes please (see also https://www.gridpp.ac.uk/wiki/RALnonLHCCVMFS#CVMFS_Stratum_0_for_non_LHC_VOs)
In /etc/cvmfs/domain.d/gridpp.ac.uk.conf file
CVMFS_SERVER_URL="[log in to unmask];http://cvmfs-stratum-one.cern.ch:8000/opt/@[log in to unmask]" target="_blank">http://cernvmfs.gridpp.rl.ac.uk:8000/opt/@[log in to unmask];http://cvmfs-stratum-one.cern.ch:8000/opt/@[log in to unmask]"
This will ensure that CERN replica will be accessed by the squids if the RAL replica is not available.
This information was meant to be advertised in few days after some further testing at RAL, but I believe this is no more necessary.
Regards,
Catalin Condurache

Subject: Problem on CVMFS Stratum 1 server at RAL. Update.
Hi,
The problem looks like a hardware problem on the backend storage for our
Stratum 1.
We have turned off http on the Stratum 1 machine. This should cause a
failover to alternatives - apart from for those small VOs for which there
isn't one.
More details to follow.
Gareth
