Hi all,
The BPS Division for Neuropsychology (DoN) are conducting a survey into opinions on the current and proposed routes for training of clinical neuropsychologists. This is an issue that affects a lot of us who are currently considering this training.
At the moment clinical neuropsychologists first complete either the D.Clin Psy or the D.Ed Psy, before then doing further applied study to qualify. This route is thought to be too restrictive and too long to result in enough qualified psychologists.
Alternate routes are being proposed that would open the way for trainees from other applied BPS accredited backgrounds, and that would offer a fast tracked and more direct training route.
The BPS DoN would really appreciate postgraduate's feedback and opinions and they have created a survey on their website to collect this. See: http://www.bps.org.uk/networks-and-communities/member-networks/division-neuropsychology
it's important to take a look at the invitation letter
http://www.bps.org.uk/system/files/images/letter_to_membership_v3.pdf
and the details of the proposed changes
http://www.bps.org.uk/system/files/images/required_competences_for_the_uk_clinical_neuropsychology_profession_may_2012_0.pdf
at first this may seem like a lot to take in, but reading the invitation email first really helps, and your feedback would be really valuable.
cheers
