Applications are invited for a fully funded PhD studentship within the Institute for Informatics and Digital Innovation at Edinburgh Napier University. The studentship will cover tuition fees to home/EU level and will include a standard living allowance (stipend), currently £13,590 per annum.
The Institute for Informatics and Digital Innovation comprises a number of research centres, including the Centre for Emergent Computing that undertakes research in bio-inspired methods for optimisation and learning.

The studentship is expected to start in September 2013. All applications must be received by Monday 1st July 2013, with interviews expected to take place on Wednesday 24th July 2013.
Applicants should hold a first class or upper second class Honours degree, or a Masters degree, in a discipline relevant to the area of study. Applicants should submit a clear proposal for their research programme that demonstrates an understanding of the background to the area and outlines the questions that the applicant is interested in researching. Candidates whose first language is not English must meet the University's English language requirements.
