Why not take in a satellite meeting the day before?
The booking deadline for the Library & Information History Group's annual conference has been extended to Tuesday 11 June.
This year's conference, entitled "Libraries in the Public Sphere: How the past informs the present and the future", will be held on Monday 1 July, at Manchester Metropolitan University, as a satellite to CILIP Umbrella (which starts on the Tuesday).
The conference is packed with papers that are bound to generate discussion. From the effects of austerity on collection development to the organisation of voluntary libraries, the historical perspective is strikingly relevant to the challenges facing libraries today. Papers cover a range of topics from mobile libraries to academic liaison.
The conference is very reasonably priced and highly accessible, with registration from 10.30 meaning that travel on the day is possible from a wide area.
The full conference programme, further details, and booking form are available at www.lihg.org/conference.
(If you are sending a booking form by post, please email to let us know that it is on its way so that we have accurate numbers by 11 June.)
