Subject: Community resilience in developed supposedly well-resourced urban areas

Hello 'Resiliencers' (to borrow a name from Hugh),

I was certainly interesting to see in the Etymology article how the term resilience has developed over the years and I would definitely agree with the
sentiment that it has become overused -although I may well be contributing to that with my Fellowship!

I am shortly going to embark on a Winston Churchill Travelling Fellowship looking into community resilience in urban areas and I need to borrow your brains.

My trip will take me to New York, San Francisco, Vancouver and Toronto for around 10 days each- I am currently scheduling in meetings with people engaged at any level in projects that get residents involved in proactive work to become more resilient.  This could be grassroots organisers, researchers and national voluntary organisations, as well as local or regional government officials.

Please may I ask you, the 'resiliencers', to consider if you have any contacts I could make that would be of benefit for my trip.  More details are available in the attached pdf.
