The Reading Room Assistant will assist researchers in the Reading Room accessing the library and archive collections of the Museum of English Rural Life and University of Reading Special Collections. The Reading Room Assistant will also be responsible for answering postal, telephone and e-mail research enquiries.
You will have:
• Good verbal and written communication skills to deal effectively and professionally with enquiries from researchers in a reading room environment
• Enthusiasm and commitment to providing a professional service for researchers and you will be approachable and friendly
• IT skills – competence in MS Office, use of databases, internet, email
• Previous experience of study or working with archives/library materials. This graduate trainee post would offer an opportunity for pre course experience prior to a postgraduate qualification in archives
