Project information:
The Netherlands Cancer Institute (NKI) in Amsterdam is a Comprehensive Cancer Center combining a hospital and research laboratories in a single independent organization. The Biostatistics Group within the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics concentrates on methodological and statistical research and is closely involved with several international epidemiological studies on cancer incidence and exposure to chemicals and radiation. The group also provides statistical expertise to clinicians and other investigators on diverse topics from all areas of biomedical cancer research. Positions are available for two fulltime biostatisticians, both functions with their own focus (for the second function, see vacancy number 404).
Your primary task is the statistical analysis of the pooled European epidemiologic cohort studies on CT-scan related radiation exposure among children and subsequent cancer risk within the EPI-CT consortium (http://epi-ct.iarc.fr). This includes setting up a framework for the incorporation of radiation exposure data from external and internal sources (with missing values) in order to quantify the uncertainty of estimated risks due to radiation exposure measurement error. Other important tasks are the communication of analyses and results to European partners as well as the drafting of manuscripts and reports.

- a Master degree and preferably a PhD in (bio)statistics, mathematics, or physics, or equivalent qualifications;

We offer an inspiring and interactive research environment, state-of-the-art facilities, training, a competitive salary (including possibilities for tax-reduction) and housing facilities in the vicinity of the Institute. The Institute is located close to the city center of Amsterdam and the international Schiphol airport.
The appointment will initially be for 2 years with possible extension.
