We are running over 100 online exams through Blackboard each year now. We use our own locked down browser running the machines in console mode with Mozilla portable, locked-down in terms of functionality using Grease Monkey.
Our Learning Technology Team have produced a 'checking' page which displays the results of an SQL query. It shows all the settings (including Grade Centre visibility) for any upcoming exams. The page includes links to the course, Test Canvas and Test Options for each exam. We now have a complex version of the page for us and a simplified one for academics and school administrators to check things are correct. It has really helped us to cut out grade leakage as we can quickly identify problems and make changes.
We are also finding mark leakage to be an issue for people using Grademark through Blackboard. I have spoken to the team about producing a Grademark checking page, perhaps for each school. It would be nice if Grade Centre visibility could be set when creating a test, or assignment through the options screen, particularly if this worked for the Turnitin building block as well. We will be looking at the template trick Anu mentions for the totals in new courses.
