Would you like to meet fellow archivists/records managers to discuss exciting developments, issues and ideas in an informal and welcoming environment? Then why not come along to the first meeting of the Cardigan Continuum North East? It doesn’t matter if you’re professionally qualified or not, in employment or not. If you have an interest in archives/records, you’re welcome and all views are equally valid.
The first meeting will be held on the 30th May at Brigantes (http://www.markettowntaverns.co.uk/brigantes.asp?Tavern=Brigantes&Section=Main) in York, from 6pm. It serves food and drinks. Please see directions below. Future meetings may be held in other towns/cities around the region, so if you’re interested, but can’t make it to York, let me know.
For the first meeting we have decided to coordinate our discussion with the London group, and will be talking about: The employment of people with disabilities as archivists, records managers, conservators and assistants”, Journal of the Society of Archivists 25(2), October 2004 (http://www.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.1080/0037981042000271493). This can also be found on the Cardigan Continuum blog site (http://thecardigancontinuum.wordpress.com/) along with further information about the group.
