Hi all,
just a reminder that that WUGEN the WAYFless url generator is available.
So far over 50 institutions have used the tool, so if you haven't tried it please have a look and we welcome feedback from new or established users of it .
More details below.
WUGEN
The tool allows you to easily create WAYFless URLs simply by choosing your home organisation, the service to log into, and a target URL (where on the service to send the user). It also allows you to "subscribe" to a WAYFless URL, such that if a "better" one becomes available you will automatically be notified of it.
To use this tool, simply browse to http://wugen.ukfederation.org.uk/ and follow the simple instructions.
We still expect to make some improvements to the look and feel of the tool so If you have any questions , queries about the tool, or suggestions for improvement, please email myself or [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> . WUGEN is in service transition and following testing the Federation hopes to take it into service status.
It should be noted however, that WAYFLess URLs although useful, do not necessarily work for every publisher and that they are not as reliable long-term as using a discovery service.
This tool was created and deployed in partnership by Cardiff University, EDINA and JISC Collections & Janet Ltd
Best Regards,
WUGEN development team.
