Hi Sue,
Yes, I got a response from de Gruyter yesterday too - their explanation was that "it seems Aberystwyth is sending the attribute eduPersonScopedAffiliation with the value member. By default we only authenticate by common-lib-terms, which is why the authentication failed"
They've changed our account’s set up accordingly, and now access is working - like you, we get sent back to the home page after logging in, but access does then work. Not perfect, but at least we can get at full-text now.
Many thanks to all who have weighed-in and helped to fix this.
Tom

Just to update, as I also reported this not working on this list, deGruyter got in touch with me direct and we do now have access.
Still get re-directed back to the home page after you login at the article, and have to peddle all the way back to the article, but having done so we can now get the full-text.

Hi Tom,
Steve Glover here from the UK federation support team.

journal content from off-campus. If a user finds the article they want and tries to open the full-text PDF, a box pops up asking them to sign in, or pay, or connect via institution. They click ‘connect via institution’, select ‘Aberystwyth University’, click ‘go to login’, and then up pops the shibboleth box for them to enter their university username and password.
So far so good – but then they get returned to the de Gruyter homepage.
So then they have to search for the journal again and find the article.
When they try to open the full text PDF, a box pops up asking them to sign in, or pay, or connect via institution. They click ‘connect via institution’…. well, you get the idea. Access from ON-campus works fine.
Unless there's been a change in your IdP's configuration, I suspect you may not have been able to access the de Gruyter SP from off-campus even before then, because as far as we know they have always required the common-lib-terms eduPersonEntitlement:
http://www.ukfederation.org.uk/content/Services/2009-04-29-dGRG
(we have a collection of similar pages on the UK federation website, linked from
http://www.ukfederation.org.uk/content/Documents/AvailableServices and http://www.ukfederation.org.uk/content/Documents/AttributeUsage
where we publish WAYFless URL and attribute details as we receive them from the SPs)

tackling the problem with any great sense of urgency.

We're in touch with de Gruyter, and have just heard from them that by default they only authenticate by eduPersonEntitlement, although they can authenticate against other attributes if this is communicated and set up manually.
I think that the quickest way forward may be to ask your IdP team if they can assert the appropriate value of eduPersonEntitlement for all users who fall within the license terms.
Hoping this is useful.
Cheers
Steve
