An interesting and challenging opportunity has arisen for a high quality SAS Programmer to support and enable medical research using CPRD data from a range of NHS sources, including GPs, hospitals and disease registries. By developing SAS routines to measure and monitor the quality of different aspects of the data, the post holder will enable researchers to select the best sources of data to answer research questions.

This includes the development within a standardised context and framework, of an expandable set of ready to use ‘plug-in’ modules to undertake data quality management and monitoring. Instruction and guidance relating to the framework development and eventual use of the modules will be provided by researchers and associated staff where required. This is a key post in terms of measuring data quality (DQ) to enable high level healthcare research using electronic health data. The position will be for one year in the first instance.
A structured training programme will be provided. The post holder will be a key member of the research project entitled “Methods to characterise and monitor data quality in the Clinical Practice Research Datalink”. As well as having advanced SAS programming skills and experience, the successful candidate will have a good understanding and interest in statistics and the uses of such information.
Key Responsibilities:
Development of generic routines and documentation for constructing measures of general, GP practice and study-specific data quality
