Sorry to hear that you are puzzled.
Any answer to your question sends us off into the same territory, debating
the appropriateness or otherwise of scientific 'proof' in the context of
creative practice. Actually, the phrase ³a cultural contribution of
substantial significance² was described as an objective in the Robert
Nelson text that Tim forwarded, not a criterion. That was my mistake. I
think the distinction is subtle but important.
I seem to recall you confessing that your students tell you that, given a
choice between perfecting research methodology and saving saving the
world, you would choose the former? Or did I dream it?
