Thanks to all who helped with the elucidation of this patients biochem results. You will remember that she is attending gastroenterology for moderately raised transaminases.
CK 2396 u/l (N < 200)
Macro CK Negative
AST 68 u/l (N < 35)
ALT 77 u/l (N < 40)
Trop T 539 ng/l (N<13)
Trop I Undetectable.
We have concluded that the raised transaminase levels are of muscle origin. This is apparently a well recognised phenomenon, see: Consider muscle disease in children with elevated transaminase. [J Am Board Fam Med. 2012]
