Elsevier Major Reference Works now accessible via Paratext's Reference Universe
Paratext announces that thousands of links to nearly 250 Major Reference Works from Elsevier’s ScienceDirect will be integrated into Paratext's Reference Universe service.
Elsevier's Major Reference Works provide foundational content that gives cross-disciplinary perspective to researchers, librarians, teachers and students worldwide. They serve a broad spectrum of scientific, technical and medical disciplines, and routinely win awards for their authoritative and detailed coverage.
Paratext's Reference Universe is the only research database that provides both collection-level scope and index-level analysis of Major Reference Works. Reference Universe searches are matched to each library's holdings, unlocking the authoritative material which librarians consistently identify as the key starting point for better quality research.
“Elsevier’s Major Reference Works provide reliable and rigorous foundational content to undergraduate, advanced, and post-doctoral level researchers,” said Suzanne BeDell, Managing Director of the Science Technology Books division of Elsevier. “Paratext’s Reference Universe provides a unique contribution within the research process by making this valuable content more discoverable in a broader context.”
Eric M. Calaluca, Chairman and CEO of Paratext, said that, "the addition of these major reference works from Elsevier constitutes a dramatic enrichment of Reference Universe. Authority and reliability of introductory data is the key to good research. Now, with this new augmentation of Elsevier’s award-winning titles, the full range of scientific, medical and technologic literature is completed. We are excited about this important enhancement in cooperation with Elsevier.”
