Dear colleagues,
we would like to draw your attention to the session on “Lithium Deposits
in Evaporites: Element Sources, Extraction and Deposition” in Theme 13:
Ores: Their Construction, Destruction and Politics at the forthcoming
Goldschmidt 2013 conference (Florence, Italy, August 25 - 30, 2013).
This session is open to all contributions on element sources, extraction
and deposition.
Lithium is considered a strategic commodity in mobile energy storage.
Evaporites host the economically most important deposits of Li as a
trace or minor element. Relation between mobilization in the sources and
local enrichment processes in the deposit (it is not simply evaporation)
are largely enigmatic, but the understanding of Li mobilization and
-enrichment could be crucial for future exploration and exploitation of
deposits. We welcome all contributions that address geology, hydrology,
and chemistry of Li deposits and potential Li sources, spatial
distribution/enrichment of Li in the evaporite deposits, processes of
Li-isotope fractionation during activation of the source, transport and
deposition.
All information on the conference can be found under
http://goldschmidt.info/2013/
The deadline for abstract submission is 12th April 2013.
We hope that we can attract your interest in the symposium and that we
will see you in Florence.
