Medical Statistician

We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Medical Statistician to work with Dr Gary Collins at the Centre for Statistics in Medicine (CSM) in Oxford (www.csm-oxford.org.uk). CSM is committed to providing collaborative statistical support for the design, analysis and reporting of clinical research, carries out a methodological research programme, and runs training courses. This role is jointly funded by two research grants (MRC & NIHR) and the postholder will be actively supporting aspects of both research grants.
The postholder will primarily focus on aspects of the methodology and reporting of studies of prognostic markers and multivariable prognostic models, including systematic reviews of such studies (MRC) and will have responsibility for evaluating the ability of the clinical risk prediction tool to predict patient outcomes at 2 years post surgery using data from a large prospective study of patients undergoing hip and knee replacement surgery (NIHR).
You will hold an MSc in statistics and have considerable experience in medical statistics. You will have knowledge of medical statistics, expertise in patient level datasets, as well proficiency in statistical analysis packages, e.g. R, Stata or SAS software. You will have a publication record as a medical statistician contributing to clinical research as well as high level computing literacy in email, Microsoft Word, Access, Excel and Powerpoint. Good organisational and time management skills are essential to this post. Experience of studies in prognosis or prediction, and programming skills (preferably a statistical language) are desirable.
This is a full-time fixed-term appointment for 2 years in the first instance.
