turns out that the original title was not as pithy, but more informative:
“Towards a History of Diacritics in Latin: Notes on the function, origins,
and obsolescence of the accentuation system of Latin in 16th- and 17thcentury
printed texts”
haven't read it yet, but it may be as erudite a piece of word as it sounds.
