The majority of the collections listed on our site - http://www.horniman.ac.uk/collections - are in storage. One of the main points of putting this site together was to allow access to information about these collections - I'd expect that is a factor for most collections websites.
We also have a tumblr account where our collections staff post interesting findings as they review our collections: http://in-the-horniman.tumblr.com which is a little less formal and more ad-hoc.
Regards,
Adrian

Subject: Collections stores + digitisation
Hi all
Wondering if you knew of any collections stores which have a corresponding digital presence, in particular the showcasing of collections online that aren't necessarily on display?
cheers
Mike
