Dear Colleagues,
UKSG recently carried out research to assess the appetite for an exhibition-oriented event to take place in London towards the end of the year (replacing the old Online exhibition with something similar in spirit to the UKSG annual conference).
Library Technology Focus - Talks and Exhibits
The response was overwhelmingly positive so we have decided to go ahead and organize an event in 2013. We are timing the event to follow on from our one-day conference on 14th November in central London, which the majority of potential delegates indicated would be most convenient for them, justifying budget to attend and so on. The event will feature about 30 tabletop exhibits, private rooms for vendor-customer meetings and a light programme of talks on the theme of library discovery technology, including an exclusive first look at results from a Jisc- and UKSG-sponsored project in this area.
Registration and attendance will be free for delegates and will include a buffet lunch and tea / coffee breaks. The success of this event will of course depend on a high level of attendance from each sector of our community and we envisage a large number of librarians will be in attendance. We hope you will be able to support us as we work to get it off the ground - please do join us and / or encourage your colleagues to do so and help us spread the word.
We will be opening registration later this year and will be in touch with further details in due course, but I hope that you will now "save the date" - Friday 15th November 2013 - and begin the process of convincing the powers-that-be to support your attendance.
Best wishes,
Ross MacIntyre
