Slates I had slates in school in the war (second not first!) !!and I never
got to be ink monitor (a job I coverted!) I recently appointed myself ink
monitor at my place
My Mother had a hard time at school being left handed forced to write right
handed and ended up writin forwards and backwards in copperplate
Well a year older and sun is trying to shine rather pitifully

bad handwriting is surely a sign of bad/weak character.
Mine was good till high school teachers insisted we write lots down fast.
In 1951 or so fountain pens were losing the battle with the biro, and biros
also destroyed stylish 'hands'.
