Bibliographic Services Manager
The University of Manchester Library is one of only five National Research Libraries and the third largest academic library in the UK. Our vast and rich collections (both print and increasingly digital) help us to deliver a world-class library and information service for the University of Manchester. While our primary objective is to meet the learning, teaching and research needs of University members, we are also fully committed to widening access to our services to individual researchers, local schools and others in the regional community.
As the Bibliographic Services Manager, you will play a key role within the Library focusing on bibliographic and stock management issues. The Library will be moving to a new Library Management System in the summer of 2013 as an early adopter of the Ex Libris Alma system and this is an important period of change and development for Library services and processes. You will be responsible for the management of the staff engaged in metadata, stock management, and associated roles. You will also contribute to the development of the Collection Management division of the Library as well as working to support and engage with the Library's overall strategic direction. You will also be expected to participate in external discussions and development in areas relating to metadata, stock management and resource discovery.
You will be expected to have significant experience of bibliographic issues and strong managerial experience.
