Changing the Learning Landscape
Open Practice in the Social Sciences
22 March 2013
Changing the Learning Landscape (CLL) is a HEFCE-funded programme supporting and encouraging universities and colleges offering higher education to make a step change in how they adopt effective and strategic uses of online technology in teaching and learning.
The full programme is now available for the first of two free continuing professional development workshops aimed at staff with curriculum and teaching development and professional support roles in social sciences disciplines.
Through presentations, exercises and discussion, supported by online webinars and resources, this one-day workshop will provide a practical introduction to using open practice (open educational resources and data) to enhance the teaching and learning experience:
• Introduction to new approaches in open practice and scholarly communication;
• Open practice and open educational resources (including MOOCs);
• Student perspectives on their use;
• Finding open resources;
• Accessibility issues
• Examples showing application of open practice in the Social Sciences;
• Case study ‘Learning to share, sharing to learn’
The sessions will be delivered by teaching practitioners in social sciences disciplines.
Delegates at each workshop will be invited to submit proposals for funding of up to £1000 for small scale projects in embedding learning technologies in their academic practice. A total of £5,000 funding will be available per workshop.
