"7. Acknowledging We Are All History Makers: My nephew Yaw was born on November 20. He an African young man in his 30s who lives on a notorious London estate, doesn’t do or deal in drugs, went to university, has a good job, and lives with and cares for his mother. Will he be included with the famous people commemorated on that date?"
THIS IS PRECISELY THE PROBLEM WITH BLACK MEN: They seem to have the idea that it is something extraordinary if they do not conform to the negative, racist stereotypes of black men.
Real progress will come when EVERYONE TAKES IT FOR GRANTED that a black man is not a hero just because he doesn't conform to the negative, racist stereotypes of black men. OTHERWISE we normalise the dysfunctional.
