35 hours per week, over a two week shift. Flexibility with working hours will be required including alternate Saturday working and one late night per fortnight
Based in Cookham, Berkshire.
We are looking for a qualified archivist to join a small team at our new Heritage Centre adjacent to our conference and holiday centre at the Odney Club.
Reporting to the Manager, Heritage Services the archivist will be responsible for ensuring the conservation, security and development of two major collections. The business archive charts the development of the John Lewis and Waitrose businesses over the past 200 years and the textile archive contains one of the most important collections of printed textiles in the UK.
The role also will involve developing a volunteer programme, extending our community archive programme and helping our in house teams to extract the commercial value found in the collections whilst ensuring their safety and integrity. We also require someone with knowledge of electronic records management and an ability to deliver and present the archive to both inhouse and external stakeholders at all levels. The new Centre will be open to academic researchers, Partners and the public. As well as managing the cataloguing and conservation of the collections there will be a requirement to prepare exhibitions and events.
We require a post-graduate qualification in archive administration or a comparable professional area; experience of archive collection management, exhibition and outreach work and the delivery of enquiry and research services.
