Please note: there are currently limited places available
We invite scholars of Russia, Eastern Europe, and Eurasia from across the
Humanities and Social Sciences to join us for a one-day workshop which
considers comparatively the vocabulary, etymology, and semantics of
localized terms for informal economic behaviour (*blat,znajomosci, štela,*
*şpaga*), as well as their appearance and role in regional literary and
cultural traditions. This is the first of two workshops designed to bring
together scholars from CEELBAS institutions, policy makers, and
representatives of third sector organizations to the debate linguistic,
literary, and analytical aspects of networking, favouritism, clientelism,
bribery, and corruption across the contemporary post-socialist Eurasia.
