A full time statistical geneticist post is available within the Lothian Birth Cohorts studies in the Centre for Cognitive Ageing and Cognitive Epidemiology.
This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious researcher to join a research team that is world-leading in the genetic and environmental study of cognitive and brain ageing. The main aim of the project is to determine genetic contributions to a number of age-related phenotypes. The post-holder will work with genome-wide association study (GWAS) and exome chip data from the Lothian Birth Cohorts of 1921 and 1936. There is an opportunity to lead GWAS analyses of brain imaging phenotypes and to be the lead author on brain imaging related manuscripts. The appointee will be responsible for performing analyses and for submitting data to a number of international consortia. They will also contribute to the writing of manuscripts resulting from their analyses.
This is a full-time post, is available immediately and tenable until 31st December 2013, with the possibility of a further two years, subject to suitable performance and funding being available. The appointment will be made at a level commensurate with experience and qualifications up to point (salary range £30,424 ? £36,298).
