I've been fairly quiet on here, partly because of a recent relocation
and partly because there's so much to digest!
I am now the Head, Alaska and Polar Regions Collections & Archives at
the Elmer E. Rasmuson Library of the University of Alaska Fairbanks. I
am also a performing musician and photographer. So the intro is out of
the way —
Over the past several years, I have been researching how libraries and
archives are addressing the issues surrounding artist's records in
their collections, particularly in the case of works that are/were
digital or electronic in nature. I see this as one of the other
dimensions of curatorial responsibility.
I am currently writing a brief paper on how cultural institutions are
or are not dealing with the emergent forms and expressions of the past
50-odd years and this list has been very helpfully provocative — so
I'm writing to the list at-large to ask if I may contact some of you
individually regarding incorporating quotations by you from the list.
I want to be certain to observe proper protocols of citation and any
privacy issues that might exist (and it seems, to me, a polite thing
to do anyway).
So, my apologies for the topic drift and now back to watching and listening.
Best,
Dennis Moser

mess is a good beginning. — Brian Eno
