Session Convenor(s)

This session is for postgraduate students in any aspect of transport geography. (Please also check the themed sessions at www.abdn.ac.uk/tgrg). In recent years we have seen an increase in the number and range of presentations in what is always a well attended and interesting event. The session provides a relaxed atmosphere for postgraduates at any stage of their research to present their work in progress. It is not mandatory to submit a full paper to present at this session and work in conjunction with supervisors is admissible. However, we would encourage those who wish to submit advanced work to submit a sole-authored full paper to enter the Postgraduate Paper Prize competition (see below)..
Presentations may take the traditional format of a 15 minute talk illustrated with slides followed by questions. However the session also seeks to encourage other forms of audience engagement such as a 6 minute Pecha-kucha style presentation (20 slides each accompanied with 20 seconds of commentary by the presenter http://www.pecha-kucha.org/). Demonstrations, audience participation activities and discussion will also be considered.
Instructions for Authors
To respond to this call please send a 200 word abstract to Ian Philips ([log in to unmask]) by the 10th February 2013. Please state whether you wish to give a traditional 15 minute presentation, a 6 minute Pecha-kucha presentation or have an alternative suggestion.
Eligible author presenters are encouraged to submit a paper for the Postgraduate Paper Prize, which is will be sponsored by Emerald Publishing in 2013. There is a first prize of £100, and a runner-up prize of a book chosen from the Emerald transport titles.
To enter for the prize, a full paper of not more than 6000 words should be submitted to the Secretary of the TGRG (Kate Pangbourne, [log in to unmask]) no later than 5pm on the Friday of the week prior to the conference.
Eligibility for the post graduate paper prize is restricted to post-graduate students (or those who have had their viva within six months of the date of the conference) presenting their own work. There is a presumption that the papers ought to be sole authored.
