Forwarded on behalf of Prof Hilary Graham and Sally Stephenson, University of York.
Please note: the organisers would be especially keen to welcome early career researchers to this event.
I am pleased to contact you about one of York's most influential citizens, John Snow. In his short life he transformed both public health and the management of pain relief. He was born in North Street, York on 15 March 1813.
Our Department is hosting a 200th Anniversary conference to celebrate his life and contribution to health and health care which we are aiming at the general public as well as academics and students. The day meeting is part of the University's 50th Anniversary programme; it includes leading authorities on John Snow's legacy and will be closed by our local MP, the Hon Hugh Bayley (programme attached).
There is no cost to attend the event but we do ask that people book a place at
http://www.york.ac.uk/healthsciences/john-snow-event/ where there is also more information about the day. The venue is the Park Inn hotel in the centre of York which is built on the site of John Snow's birthplace.
A flyer is also attached and we should be very happy for you to forward this information to interested colleagues.
If you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact Sally Stephenson ([log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>) the administrator for the event.
