Reminder of ARLG (North-East) event - deadline 15th February.
Supporting research is a vital aspect of the information professionals’ portfolio. It is increasingly the case that students are expected to carry out research from their school days into their HE career and beyond. In the morning Samantha Gavaghan (Redcar & Cleveland College) and Jane Spellman (Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College, Darlington) will look at how to support FE students, Sue Myer will outline work being carried out at Teesside University at developing more holistic support for students in HE and broadening our approach to support such skills as critical thinking and academic writing. In the afternoon Andrew Walsh & Nicola Howorth (Huddersfield University) will present their work on the Informed Researcher, James Bisset (Durham University) will look at Open Access issues and there will be a panel discussion hosted by Moira Bent (Newcastle University) on how people are using the Researcher Developer Framework. The day should be a mix of presentations and workshops with plenty of opportunities for discussion, networking and questions.
