Subject: [Content] Fix for Athens access to ScienceDirect for NHS England OCLC WorldCat Link Resolver and for Ebsco A-to-Z
Importance: High
I think I have solved the ScienceDirect access problems, thanks to finally having made contact with a guy at Elsevier called Ale. We've been on the right track with the WAYFless URLs, but looks like there was a bit missing and Ale has provided me with the missing link.
OCLC WorldCat Administrators (NHS England):
1. Log in to your admin account at https://worldcat.org/config and select your institution in the usual way
2. Go to WorldCat knowledge base
3. Choose Collection Management
4. Find Elsevier in the Provider/Collection list and then click View my collections and click the name of the ScienceDirect collection where you have any content
5. Click the Properties tab.
6. In the Collection URL line, replace what is currently there with the following:
[[localstem]]https://auth.elsevier.com/ShibAuth/institutionLogin?entityID=https://idp.eng.nhs.uk/openathens&appReturnURL={startencode}{URL}{endencode}
(make sure to copy & paste all of the above with no gaps)
7. SAVE YOUR CHANGES
Now test it. You should get to the right place without jumping through any of the hoops (apart from if there are multiple profiles set up on an individual login - e.g. if you've set up a profile for ScienceDirect mobile - you'll still see a choice of profiles)
THIS REALLY NEEDS TO BE CHANGED AT PARENT LEVEL but at least we can now do something about it locally. Please will the NHS Evidence people look into this as a matter of urgency.
I also have a fix for users of Ebsco A-to-Z, thanks to help from Joseph Devanna at Ebsco and Ale's magic URL:
1. Log in to your A-to-Z admin account at http://admin.atoz.ebsco.com
2. Go to Proxy Settings under Access Management
3. Click Create a new proxy server and copy & paste
NOTE TO SCOTTISH AND WELSH NHS LIBRARIANS: replace idp.eng.nhs.uk with idp.scot.nhs.uk or idp.wales.nhs.uk as appropriate
NON-NHS LIBRARIANS: try this custom URL:
https://auth.elsevier.com/ShibAuth/institutionLogin?entityID=https://idp.eduserv.org.uk/openathens&appReturnURL={startencode}{URL}{endencode}
