Museums and Social Media-1 day course
The public no longer expect to be just passive consumers of arts, culture and heritage events. Social media and other new technologies have opened up a plethora of opportunities for museums to build active communities around their work.
This course will provide an introductory overview of latest thinking and best practice in using social media to engage the public with a museum, to develop advocates for the museum, and to enable them to become a valued part of their community.
By the end of this course participants should have:
An overview of social media tools and how these might be used as part of a marketing strategy for a museum.
An insight into how to decide which tools to focus on at your organisation and how to use them to maximum effect.
An introduction to identifying and approaching key influencers, bloggers and journalists using social media.
How to evaluate and measure your social media campaigns.
This course is suitable for those with little or no social media experience or indeed for those who would like to refresh their skills.

Course Leader: Katie Moffat is an independent consultant with over 15 years experience working in the communications & digital industries.
