The British Library Preservation Advisory Centre has made available a series of 'Handling and use' icons for use under a creative commons license.
http://www.bl.uk/blpac/icons.html
We hope you will find them useful and build them into your own guidance, notices and training.
Please let us know how you've used them - we'd also like to be able to share examples of how people have successfully promoted the 'good handling' message in their organisations.
On that note, at short notice, we have a couple of spaces available on our 'Promoting good handling' workshop on Thursday - a day which explains how library and archive materials get damaged, and what you can do to prevent damage including a range of tips on guidance / training / policy development to help you communicate the safe use of collections.
