Enough already of this bloody drought
undeclared yet but have no doubts;
the dry is in, the rain is out.
On former grass, only cracks.
Nightly hosing can't turn the attack.
Everything once lush, now moisture lacks.
Stone fruit shrivels : poor plums and nectarines
O Great Tap Turner, must you be so mean?
Perpetual dry is plain obscene.
What will it take to hear gutters awash?
to wear again, a mackintosh?
