Subject: Re: CRM solutions?
Hi Nick
I've used Salesforce and a number of other CRM's. Have to say, "it
depends"...
Salesforce is hugely complex, and takes a lot of effort to get people on
board and using it. For sales teams it is probably great (lots of talk of
"PIPELINES" and "LEADS") - plus they have the reason to use it, cos it's all
about revenues and making sure they get their % each month. But for general
staff: nope. And if you're wanting to keep track of all touches with X group
then if even a small number of people don't use the system then it will fail:
it's only as good as the weakest link.
Capsule is brilliant in a small environment - we used it for the whole of our
first year of Thirty8 Digital before replacing it with some other (even more
lightweight) systems to manage this stuff. But I can't recommend it enough in
this context - all you basically do is BCC in any contacts and it does a very
intelligent and highly usable job of dropping contacts into a list, managing
tasks, files, engagements, notes, calendar etc. Also as Graham says, the
integration is absolutely top notch - web forms, finance systems, Google
Docs...
The nice thing about Capsule (when compared to my experience with Salesforce)
is that it is nearly invisible, and therefore actually gets used. It also has
a Freemium model so you can try out all the features for free up to a
contact/filesize limit.
cheers
Mike
