*With apologies for cross-posting*
Dear MCG'ers,
On behalf of the Collections Trust, I wanted to alert you to a new
consultation on a self-assessment tool we have developed called Digital
Benchmarks for the Museum/Culture Sector.
The announcement and consultation document are up on Collections Link at
http://tiny.cc/digitalbenchmarks.
The aim of the model is to provide a structured approach to benchmarking
the use of technology across the whole museum. It has been developed
using data from the EU-funded ENUMERATE project and provides range
statements against 8 core areas:
* Strategy
* People
* Systems
* Digitisation
* Content Delivery
* Analytics
* Engagement
* Revenue
The consultation runs until the 28th February, after which we will be
publishing the Digital Benchmarks and promoting it to the museum & arts
community as an open self-assessment tool for anyone to use. We are also
hoping to use it as the basis of a discussion about how best to
acknowledge the digital transition of museums under the Museums
Accreditation Scheme.
I would really love to get the MCG community's views on the model - what
have we missed? Is it useful? Would you use it? Are we rabid enough
about linked open data? The consultation document on the link above
provides the full text of the range-statements, as well as the proposed
structure of the benchmarking tool.
Comments please to me at this email address, via twitter on
#digitalbenchmarks!
Best regards,
Nick
