REMINDER: There are still places left for the JIBS User Group event: New dawn: the changing resource discovery landscape
Monday February 25th 2013 (10am- 4 30pm; registration from 9.30am with refreshments)
Brunei Gallery Lecture Theatre at SOAS (School of Oriental and African Studies) London
Are discovery tools the Holy Grail or a poisoned chalice for libraries? This event explores the experiences of implementing new systems, their technical challenges, and asks how and if resource discovery tools have changed the experiences of students, librarians and academic staff. What are the implications for library management systems and information skills training? Ken Chad will give the Keynote presentation, with an overview of the landscape, plus a look at what the future might hold. Colleagues from universities that already have a discovery service will present a series of case studies to highlight their experiences. Delegates will be able to share ideas and learn from the experience of others.
