Hi Alex
Back in 2007 I worked with the National Portrait Gallery on the evaluation of their Hospital Schools Programme - there's a pdf here in case you didn't already know about it:

Subject: Museum Objects and Hospital Schools
Dear All,
I am currently working on a project led by RCMG at the University of Leicester about Museums, Health and Wellbeing in the East Midlands. One strand is to look at developing museums' work with hospital schools to create some sort of online/digital resource which will enable pupils to explore objects in depth and then share comments, perhaps curate their own spaces and so on, based around themes/needs chosen by staff/pupils from the hospital school.
Although a pilot project at this stage, one ambition is that this might become a more nationally used resource (by other hospital schools and involving lots of different museum collections who might be able to upload their own content). We've been looking at websites that enable close looking of objects (often in flash) as well as sites that enable social media (e.g. what was Radiowaves, now called Make Waves), and due to incredibly tight timescale, we don't want to reinvent the wheel, but also want to create something that is going to be useful for this particular audience.
I was wondering if anyone has come across this sort of thing before, or might have any thoughts on its development, potential developers or projects that are similar?
Thank you very much for your help.
Best wishes,
Alex Woodall
