italian-studies: Scholarly discussions in any field of Italian studies
This is clearly related to Boccaccio, Decameron III, 10 :'Alibech diventa romita, a cui Rustico monaco insegna rimettere il diavolo in inferno...'. I don't know of any specific sacra rappresentazione that the story worked its way into, but the drama esp comedy often used plots from novelle. Cheers, Paul

italian-studies: Scholarly discussions in any field of Italian studies
Cari colleghi,
For an article I am writing, I would like to know if the following
motifs appear in any of the Italian medieval or Renaissance sacre
rappresentazioni (or laude), either individually, or in combination:
the Devil
"putting the Devil into Hell" (mettendo il diavolo nell'Inferno; il
diavolo punito)
a cauldron (paiuolo).
Any help anyone can give would be very much appreciated.
Buone feste a tutti!
Cari saluti,
Jim Ward
