All,
The "Approved VOs" list displays the site support requirements of VOs.
https://www.gridpp.ac.uk/wiki/GridPP_approved_VOs
The records for Neiss were stale. Ordinarily, these would be
automatically updated from the CIC portal, but Neiss is a special case.
So, to ensure that only correct records exist in the Approved VOs
document, I have removed the stale Neiss records. The records that were
removed are listed below. It's fair to do that - the records are known
to be stale and the details are passed around by hand anyway (BTW: the
VO can hardly be "gridpp approved" when we don't know what we are
approving).
Anyway, the details can be put in once Neiss is ready and has a way of
transmitting its configuration requirements to GridPP as a whole. Note
to Sam: If Tom wants to send me the current records, I'd be glad to put
them back (or he could do it himself). But at least now the "Approved
VOs" doesn't hold garbage, which should meet with your approval.
In the longer run, I would lean towards the draconian solution of
disallowing any VO from being "approved" until it has a standard,
central way of disseminating site support requirements. Under Draco, the
death penalty <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capital_punishment> was the
punishment <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Punishment> for even minor
offences <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Offence_%28law%29>, but we don't
need to go quite that far.
Cheers,
Steve
