RESEARCH DATA MANAGEMENT FUNDING: IS EUROPE UP TO THE CHALLENGE?
A workshop to showcase a European funding and evaluation framework for research data management, organised by the SIM4RDM project http://www.sim4rdm.eu/
31 January 2013, Dublin, Ireland
Workshop Information and Registration: http://sim4rdm2.eventbrite.com/
CONTEXT TO THE WORKSHOP
Managing research data effectively and sustainably is an issue that concerns researchers, institutions, data centers, funding bodies and academic publishers all over the world. To address it, various initiatives aimed at disseminating good practice and coordinating policy across countries are under way. One key challenge for these initiatives is designing and running funding programmes for managing research data that are flexible enough to suit the different economic and cultural contexts of the countries where these programmes will be implemented.
SIM4RDM is a two year project funded by the European Commission to analyse research data management policies in a number of European states, and to produce funding models, evaluation frameworks, case studies and recommendations for future national interventions and pan-European and international co-ordination.
The SIM4RDM partners have completed a multi-stakeholder survey of research data management practices, and are currently developing a funding and evaluation framework for designing, running and evaluating funding programmes to improve research data management skills and support.
This workshop aims to showcase the SIM4RDM outputs and to explore opportunities for European and international collaboration. Attendance is free, but places are offered on a first come first served basis. To attend please register at the top of this page.
