Our month long celebration of erotica and libraries has now come to end.
It has been an amazing month and I hope you have all enjoyed it as much as we have here at Stellar Libraries. During the month we have attracted a fair amount of media attention thanks to the hard work and effort of the lovely Lou and Stephen at Break Communications, which we'd like to share with you all.
Special thanks also goes to Miss Sos for the fantastic artwork, Xctie books and all the wonderful authors who braved the cold to visit libraries, Black Lace publications for their salacious prize selection (competition is still open! http://between-the-sheets.org/competition/) , to Trevor Horsewood for the website construction and special thanks to Andy Ryan for letting me loose on this in the first place, it has been a ball!
Lastly but certainly not least a massive thanks to all who took part with such energy and enthusiasm a very Merry Christmas to you all.
PRESS ROUND UP
Overview
The campaign kicked off with a great piece running online with the Daily Mail, which was subsequently seen by a number of other outlets who Tweeted or shared the story. As the campaign unfolded we were then able to secure a good spread of regional print and online coverage, bolstered by further social media support from national titles such as Chat and Bella.
We also had an ‘Outgoings’ preview confirmed in Stylist and inclusion in a composite piece in Metro, but unfortunately both of these were pulled at the last minute, which was out of our control. Stylist did again make up for it by the journalist Tweeting about the activity for us personally and were then keen to find out about any plans for future events in 2013 for a feature in January.
One other issue we had was that certain regional titles needed a local event to act as a hook in order for us to secure coverage. These included the likes of the Manchester Evening News, Harrow Observer and Richmond Magazine, who all thought the campaign sounded great, but couldn’t justify giving it priority space without any local activity.
Finally we did have a couple of responses from the likes of the Enfield and Barking & Dagenham News, who felt that the campaign wasn’t suitable for them to feature as they are family publications.
Below we have included an overview of coverage secured and links where we have them:
National coverage
• The Sun
Attended the Redbridge Library event, speaking to three attendees, alongside the authors, and a piece was set to run on Saturday 15th December. Unfortunately it was pulled at the last minute, due to it being a busy news weekend, but we are pushing them to run asap as it will still be a good promotion for the scheme and for Stellar Libraries.
