AAATE2013 Conference

Vilamoura, Portugal
We would like to invite you to submit a paper to the 12th edition of the AAATE biennial conference that will be held in Vilamoura, Algarve, Portugal, September 19-22, 2013 (www.aaate2013.eu).
Throughout the years the AAATE conference has establish itself has a privileged forum for researchers in the transdisciplinary area of Assistive Technology. One of the main objectives of the AAATE2013 Conference is to bring together researchers, professionals, manufacturers, end users and its families, and combine their knowledge, expertise, needs and expectations, contributing in a multidisciplinary way to the success of this meeting. We are looking forward to meet you in Vilamoura, Portugal, for the 2013 AAATE Conference!

Scope and thematic areas
Contributions to the advancement of Assistive Technology (AT), not only in technological areas, but in all the fields closely related with this domain of knowledge - Education and Training, Service Delivery, Research, Industry, Legislation are accepted. Conference thematic areas include but are not limited to:

Submission and publication
Authors should submit an extended abstract (2 to 4 pages) covering the following topics:
The R & D or application idea
The state of the art in this area (other projects, publications, ...)
The methodology used
The R & D work and results
The impact or contributions to the field
Conclusion and planned activities.
In order to allow a fair review process, incomplete submissions will not be considered for revision. Authors of accepted contributions should submit a camera ready full paper that will be published in the Conference Proceedings book by IOS Press.
A short list of the best presented papers will be selected so that revised and extended versions of these papers will be published by IOS Press in a special issue of the journal Technology and Disability.
Contributions for the industry track
Manufacturers and providers of assistive technology are also invited to submit papers describing their products and outcomes. The conference program will include special industry sessions for the presentation of selected industry papers. Extended abstracts for the industry track should cover the use of assistive technology from a practitioner or user perspective and may be in the form of a case study, demonstration, implementation study, panel discussion, poster session, research paper, or tips and techniques workshop.
